Jul 17, 2021 · 12:55 PM. Hello all. I would like to convert my 65 Val with 273 to manual transmission. My favorite would probably be the Dakota transmission or an A833OD. With the 833, it would of course be cool that it is plug and play. Since these are very hard to find here in Switzerland, I have been looking around for a Muncie or TopLoader.

The 351C has the same bolt pattern as the 302, late 289, and 351W. 289s can be stroked to the full 347 without a problem most of the time. The 347 uses shorter pistons and they do not present any problems with the lower cylinder. 6.

If its adjusted right it wont. ASM109 said it. Foot on the pedal TOB turns. Real easy. My toploader 4spd has some noise in neutral with my foot off the clutch pedal.

Everyone said that it wouldn't make more than 700 HP, but after careful part selection and matching, we made over 870 at the crank flange.

He is planning on going to a 302 based motor, but I'm trying to convince him on the CHP 427 Street Fighter, since he was looking at dropping the same amount of money on their 331. So, can anyone tell me if there are any mods that are required to stuff a

I believe GL-5 (hypoid) oils are recommended for toploaders. They do offer 90wt hypoid oil that comes without friciton modifier for those that need to run GL-5 oil in
Get a QuoteToploader is a Ford transmission, used in all ford cars that required a 4-speed, and was made by Tremec of Mexico IIRC, even in the good old days. Strong, easy to fix and a decent shifting tranny are its strong points. The sideloader would be a Borg Warner T-10, only used in early 60's Fords, up until 66 I believe.

I have the 65 Mustang Shop Manual as a guide for the disassembly but it seems to be lacking a bit in clarity of the instructions. I've removed the front bearing cover, rear housing and the 3/4 and 1/2 shift

Get a QuoteMay 09, 2007 · I've seen a few hydraulic clutch setups for my '66, but I haven't found one for a toploader style of linkage. I don't want to get a thrust bearing style - primarily because it's such a fiasco to yank my tranny, and next time I do will be a $700 ordeal already ( alum. flywheel and lightweight clutch / pressure plate ).

The SB input shaft is longer than the BB input. With the shorter pinion, the trans becomes less stable and can damage the bearing and the trans case. Last edited: Dec 3, 2021.
